Donegal Live Glasgow event manager Trish Hegarty of Inis Communications with Packie BonnerGlaswegians poured into Merchant’s Square in the centre of the city at the weekend for the 2011 Donegal Live Glasgow event – a showcase of Donegal music and entertainment which also highlighted what the county has to offer as a tourism destination.

Event manager Trish Hegarty says more than 50 exhibitors from the tourism industry were delighted with not just the numbers but also with the warmth of the response they received from the people who attended.

“We had representatives of the hotel, B&B, guesthouse and self-catering sectors, from the local travel industry, as well as exhibitors from attractions such as Glenveagh Natioal Park, and from activities such as festivals, walking and surfing businesses, arts&crafts and Gaeltacht organisations.”

“There was a wonderful, lively and busy atmosphere which added to the occasion and those of us who travelled from Donegal for the event were overwhelmed by the strength of the connection between our county and the city of Glasgow.  So many of the people we met were connected in some way or other with the county, or had visited it already.  The overall feeling from the tourism trade who attended this year is that they want to do this again!”
