Congratulations to Derry start-up Test Your Drink, who made it all the way to the semi-finals of the Voom – the UK and Ireland’s longest business pitch marathon.  Founder and owner Gary Bates said he was “very proud that we made it to the semi-final, putting us in the Top 20 of the original thousand plus applicants in our category.”

“Our experience in Voom 2016 has given us an amazing couple of months and has propelled Test Your Drink firmly into the public domain. I have made some amazing contacts and will keep you informed of our progress in the next couple of months.”

Gary also thanked all those who voted for Test Your Drink ” and your incredible and overwhelming support throughout this process. I have been bowled over by the positive response from everybody and I am confident and determined that this business will succeed.”

Test Your Drink is a small pack containing 5 sheets of test spots to dip into your drink to test for the predatory drugs GHB and Ketamine. See how it works with this video:
Gary says you can minimise the risk if having your drink spiked by if you never leave drinks unattended. “Also, don’t drink something you didn’t open, or see opened or poured.” Find out more about avoiding drink spiking from the Test Your Drink blog here.
If you think your drink has been spiked, first tell a friend or friends who are with you. If you are on your own, tell the bar or security staff, or the police.  Your doctor can test for the presence of traces of certain drugs through urine or blood tests within 24 hours, so do seek medical attention as soon as possible. If you think you’ve been assaulted or raped, tell a friend or family member, and go to a doctor or hospital.
