Whether you are off for a week or a month, your summer break is well deserved and the priority should be…. to relax! Our lives seem to move along at an increasingly faster pace and it can be hard to unwind and switch off, so you need to be careful about how you handle your leisure time. Tweeting and posting to Facebook may seem a bit of a grey area because many of us also post about leisure and family activities and interests – so how should you handle these during your break? Ask yourself these three questions:
- Do you find it hard to “switch off”? If yes, then I would suggest you forget your social media altogether and so resist any temptation to stay in touch with work-related issues. It will all still be there when you get back…..
- Are you a bit of a news junkie? If you always need to be up to date with the latest news, professional and otherwise, you probably use your Twitter feed as a news source. For the holidays, why not just stick to news apps or sites! That way you can stay in touch without feeling the need to engage or respond.
- Do you use Facebook regularly as a way to communicate with friends and family? If so, then this may be an essential part of your leisure time so work away – but avoid engaging with your Business Page!
